Combating Perfectionism & A Torrid Fashion Haul

Hey Curvy Chicks!

Hope everyone is doing well, is staying out of the cold and staying healthy. We haven’t had much luck with the healthy part here in the Siren household and between kids with colds, Nightrider’s pneumonia and even myself not feeling too hot its been a rough couple of weeks.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook probably have seen me agonizing over incorporating more video onto StilettoSiren.com for a while and know that I actually shot my first video for the site last week. Shooting went well but editing was a whole other story. First off I am working with a new camera, one that is ment to be perfect for bloggers as it can instantly upload to youtube as long as there is an internet connection, but in my opinion seems more like its made for people who don’t want to have title or credit screens or music or any other editing done on their videos. Now i’m sure this will come in handy when I am on location and want to get things out to you quick and easy, but in this instance I wanted to be able to edit a bit more. So I had to find a file converter program, a free one at that, which took forever, then I realized I didn’t have the proper editing tool and I couldn’t take the video I shot vertically from my tripod  and crop it in for a closer shot that would fill up youtube frame properly.

Basically it just wasn’t working out and I ended up putting my head in my hands, taking some deep breaths, walking away from it for a minute and realizing that I probably needed to figure out a way to reshoot it horizontally and redo EVERYTHING.  (Yes it was all this dramatic) Anyhoo I have been meaning to reshoot and I haven’t had the time with everyone so damn sick in my house so I decided this would be the perfect time to combat my perfectionist nature that I am in constant battle with and decided to post the video as is, with its blurred moments, in a smaller vertical frame and just write this one off as a learning experience. So this video may not be top quality and has its issues but its me and its authentic and next time it will be better. Hope you can get past its imperfections as I am trying to and enjoy!

“The Lights Are Out & I Barely Know You”

 Hey Curvy Chicks!

It is an absolutely beautiful day over here in Boise! The sun is shinning, there is a crispness in the air and I thought it was the perfect day for a sassy outfit that made me feel like a million bucks. I decided to bring in some prints, some pops of color and a tiny bit of layering for today’s look and wanted to share it with you!

Shades: Betsey Johnson/Earrings: Rue21

Blazer:Torrid/Bandeau Top: ASOS Curve/Trousers:ASOS Curve/Belt: Torrid (Gifted) /Heels:Torrid

I recently purchased these great polkadot trousers from ASOS Curve and have been dying to wear them on the blog and wear them more then just around the house, but really I totally live in these on the couch they are that comfortable.  I decided to start the look by pairing them with my white badeau top also from ASOS Curve that I tucked in to play up the high waist nature of the pants. I wanted a bit more structure at the waist so I added my retro 80′s corset belt that was gifted to me by Torrid last fall and then I added my go to black Torrid Blazer to bring the look together and to keep me warm in the cool air. For some extra pop of color in this other wise black and white look I added my Raspberry platform heels also from Torrid and my Raspberry feather earrings I found on sale at my local Rue21. The sun was shinning so I added my favorite shades from Betsey Johnson to complete the look.

What are you wearing today?
