“Rockin Around The Christmas Tree” Review Of Lucie Lu

Be Social!

Hey Curvy Chicks!

Christmas has  finally come and gone and now its time to get back to business and get back to  regularly scheduled outfit posts and reviews! I decided I wanted to get right back in the swing of things today and shot some pics of what I wore yesterday to Chirstmas Dinner. We had taken care of most of our holiday activies last Friday before our kids left town including a 4am faux Christmas morning and our traditional Ham and Scalloped Potato feast. Yesterday since we were kid free we ended up sleeping in, chillin on the couch eating leftovers and watching A Muppet Christmas Carol and How The Grinch Stole Christmas and then headed to my Mom’s in the evening for Lobster, Steak and great company. At the end of the day we came home to a quiet house and ended our night with some more movies, all in all it was a fantastic few days of Holiday!

Sparrow Earrings: Gift From Nightrider/Dress: Lucie Lu (Gifted)/ Belt: IGIGI (Gifted)/

Tights: Torrid/Wedge Booties: VivaLaDiva for SimplyBe (Gifted)

You all know I have a love for lace so ofcourse I was estatic when I recieved the Reverie Dress from Lucie Lu in the mail a few weeks back. This dress is simple yet smart, classic and feminine with it’s black textured stretchy lace and lined bodice and skirt. I love the  small puff shoulders, the accented a-line waist and the sheer sleeves. This dress is the perfect addition to my wardrobe and could be worn in both causal and dressy ways which I love. I recieved my Reverie Dress in black in a size 3x and its a perfect fit for my size 22 dress size. It fits like a dream, is made true to size, and is extremely comfortable yet still fashionable. I absolutely love it.  In this look I paired the dress with some black opaque tights from Torrid and my favorite wedge lace up booties gifted to me from VivaLaDiva & SimplyBe. I wanted a bit more definition at the waist so I added my floral bud corset belt that came from a dress from IGIGI I was gifted last winter. I kept my jewelry simple only wearing a small pair of Sparrow stud earrings Nightrider put in my stocking this year. It was a great holiday look and I felt beautiful and classy!

What did you do yesterday and what did you wear? I would love to see your Holiday Style!

Stiletto’s Advent Calendar: 12/01 Homemade Ornaments

Be Social!

From now until Christmas I will be counting down the days with Stiletto’s Advent Calendar! This will be 24 days of tips, tricks, guides, projects,  gifts ideas and more to ring in the Holidays!

This is one of my favorite times of year. I absolutely love the entire month of December first and foremost because my birthday falls on December 16th, YAY! Also December is  my and Nightrider’s Anniversary month and ofcourse we can’t forget Christmas! It doesn’t get much better than that, does it? This year I am trying to bring more joy to these halls by keeping things simple, getting creative and doing things with a personal touch that encompasses the nature of our family. Today’s advent is all about decorating the tree. This year we decided to ditch our traditional ornaments and give our decorating a bit of a personal touch. Last weekend we sat down with the kids and created some homemade ornaments that reflected our family, our personalities and interests. The kids had a great time (which means a lot since they are teenage boys)  and we ended up with some really cute results for our own tree as well as some homemade gifts for the family!

Here is what you need to make your own ornaments for the Holidays:

  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie Sheet (Use Wax Paper Over It For Easy Clean Up)
  • Toothpick
  • Cookie Cutters (We found all of ours at Thrift Stores for under a dollar!)
  • Acrylic Paints in Your Favorite Colors
  • Can Of Spray Paint Gloss
  • Ribbon Or Ornament Hooks

1. Preheat Oven To 250 Degrees

2. Mix Together Salt, Flour & Water Until Dough Is Formed

3.Knead The Dough On A Floured Surface Until The Mixture Is Elastic & Smooth. If Dough Is Too Sticky Add More Flour.

4.Roll The Dough Until It Is About 1/4inch Thick. Any Thicker Will Require A Longer Bake Time.

5. Use Cookie Cutters To Create The Shapes You Desire, Or Mold Your Own!

6. Use Toothpick To Make A Hole Towards The Top Of The Ornament To Run Ribbon Or Hook Through.

7. Place All Shaped Dough On A Cookie Sheet Covered With Wax Paper

8. Bake From 2-3 Hours At 250 Degrees Checking On Your Ornaments Until They Are Hard Or Turn A Light Brown

9. Remove From Oven & Allow To Cool Completely

10. Paint The Ornaments Front & Back To Your Hearts Desire (Initial & Put The Year On The Back Of Each Ornament For Nostalgia!)

11. Let Dry & Then Apply A Spray Paint Gloss For A Finishing Touch Of Shine!

11.When Dry, Tie Ribbon Or Add Hooks To Ornaments. (Magnets can also be added to the back to create festive magnets for gift giving!)

And Whala!

Getting crafty can be a fun way to spend time together, build new traditions (we will be making new ornaments every year) and give your decorations a little something special!

Countdown To Christmas Wishlist: Stripe Tweed Dress

Be Social!

Today’s Wishlist Item is the Stripe Tweed Dress from eShakti

I have a secret, I really really really love all things tweed. I don’t wear it as often as I would like because with having such short hair it can be hard to keep the feminine look I like to have in tweed pieces, but this dress totally fixes that problem! Everything from the puffed sleeves to the soft bow that finishes the neck line makes this princess seemed dress perfect for a girly girl like me. I love the pattern in this tweed to as it looks chic, rich and smart. This dress also has pockets which I go crazy for and overall its an ultimate win! I would wear this dress with a pair of textured tights like the ones I wore on Tuesday or this other pair I have with little bow details to tie it all together and a secretary heel that would have me feeling powerful and beautiful. Add some large pearl stud earrings and this look would be so perfect. I need this dress pronto!

If this dress isn’t your cup of tea check out everything eShakti has to offer, they have so much on sale right now and their overstock section lets you search by size as well and is up to 35% off!
