What I Wore: “I Love Lucy”

Be Social!

Hi Friends!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week so far. Sorry for not posting yesterday, I had a huge math test that I was totally not prepared for and spent my whole day (literally like 7 hours) cramming and frying my brain. Like my Twaffle always says, I am far too pretty to do math. Really though those of you who are good with numbers are also beautiful but incredibly lucky that you can rock the math skills, I just don’t have that part of the brain.

Since today I am back to my normal self I knew I wanted to put together an outfit of the day, and showcase the wonderful dress my friends at IGIGI sent me last month. This dress will be perfect work wear but since I am currently working from home and playing house, for real I’ve become quite domestic, this dress makes for the perfect retro housewife look. Once I put the look together I realized I was totally serving some Lucille Ball, Ricky I Wanna Be In The Show Realness and since Lucy is one of my style icons and favorite red heads I decided to play it up!

Plus Size I Love Lucy

Come on what girl can resist a polk-a-dot? I know I can’t, they are seriously a weakness for me. When I first saw this dress on the site I was smitten, and when it arrived in the mail and I slipped this baby on I knew it was LOVE! Everything about this dress is perfection. It fits my body like a glove in a size 18/20 is a great length for a classy look and has some great features that make it ideal for the curvy curves. This dress feels rich and high quality (duh it’s IGIGI) and is actually really comfortable as well. It can appear like a top and a skirt with the A-line cut and separation of print under the breast and also camouflages a tummy which is an extra plus. The polk-a-dot trim on the cuffs  is really flexible and can actually fold down for a complete black sleeve which is wonderful and the 3/4 sleeves are perfect for the office or for strutting around the house feeling retro glam like i did today. Overall this dress is an A++++ and I highly recommend it to my plus girls no matter what walk of life you live. Would I steer you wrong?

IGIGI Doris Dress

This dress came with a sash that is a different black and white print than the polk-a-dots which I definitely find interesting and cute  but as you know I am not really into sashes. I opted to highlight my waist in this dress with a heart shaped Torrid corset belt from seasons ago to play up the fun of the look and give it a little youthful feeling. I also chose to wear my magenta suede heels also from Torrid to give the look a pop of color, and to pull in my pink lips.  I added a pearl necklace and earrings to pay homage to the pinup nature of the look as well. There is no makeup breakdown today but the pink lips, heavy cat eye liner and my pompadour completed the look for me.

What do you think about the Doris 2-In-1 Dress from IGIGI and they way I styled it? Who is one of your style icons?

What I Wore: “Jungle Love It’s Drivin Me Mad”

Be Social!

Hey Curvy Chicks!

I know long time, no outfit post. Excuses are lame but in all honesty June is a really hard month for me (I will elaborate on this on Thursday probably). Anyways I have 3 outfit posts prepared for this week as well so hopefully that will change things up around here :)

For today’s post I knew I wanted to feature and review the new maxi dress I received from Igigi this month from their Voyage Exotique Collection which I wrote about here. The Naime Maxi Dress is so fantastic I was instantly drawn to it and was absolutely ecstatic when it was sent my way for review!

Gold Hoop Earrings: Fuego/Naime Maxi Dress: IGIGI (Gifted)/Black Peep Toe Wedges: Torrid (Gifted)

You all know me, I CAN’T resist an animal print and this striped print was calling my name. I also have been venturing into maxi dresses more and more this summer and when I saw this piece on the site I knew it would be great for an easy glam and fiesty look. I felt like a million bucks in this dress and honestly loved almost everything about it. The only negative was that it was a bit long on me but then again I am only 5’4″ and that is what tailors are for right? I will be shortening this dress so I am able to wear it comfortably with flats since heels haven’t really been my thing lately. However this dress worked just fine with sky high torrid wedges that were just the right color scheme for this look. I received my dress in a size 18/20 per the size charts and it fit amazingly perfect. I have been having a hard time with my bust size lately but this dress was a complete score in the boobie area as it fits ideally! The fabric on this dress and the quality of the design is exactly what I expect from IGIGI and that is flawless! They have nailed it again making a beautiful dress with rich fabrics and a quality that can’t be matched. This dress came with an extra black sash and I used it to elongate the black top of the dress because I have a really long torso. The sash allowed me to customize the appearance of the fit to flatter my curves specifically which I really appreciated and think makes this dress great for all types of curvy figure flattering with or without the sash. Options people options! :) Overall this dress is fantastic and I love everything about it from the thick straps that work with a bra, the flowing lined skirt and of course the fabric and color choices that made me feel like a Glamazon Queen Of The Jungle!

What do you think of this dress? What are you wearing today?

What I Wore: FATKINI

Be Social!

Hey Curvy Chicks!

The time is finally here my lovely friends for me to debut my 2012 FATkini and do my yearly post about feeling great in a swimsuit! However first things first, I have to give credit where credit is due. Over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of talk in the fat acceptance and fatshion spheres about plus size women rocking bikinis, or as they have been dubbed FATkinis, in their local swimming pools, beaches, lakes and heck even backyards. Gabi Gregg has been the leader in this and has created quite the buzz among all of us curvy girls as well as with the world over and was even a guest on the Today Show to discuss the FATkini trend, health at every size and self confidence. Mad props Gabi for all you’ve done!

I will admit that this is the first year I have rocked a complete bikini. Even when I was a fairly average sized teenager I was always caught donning a one piece or at the very most a tankini during the summer months, hiding my chub and my pasty white belly. While I can accept that this was my past and was part of my journey to the body acceptance, self love and the FATkini rocking that you are seeing today I do have to admit that I regret the time I spent worry far too much what other people thought of me and missing out on a lot of fun times in my past. Well if its and buts were candy and nuts…wait is that another fat girl reference? Whatever, the past is over and I am living in the moment now with an extreme appreciation for my body and am showcasing it this summer with my first FATkini and I have to say I am loving it! Pale skin, stretch marks, dimpled thighs and a muffin top that can’t be matched in full force I am embracing my beauty, my size 22, 275lb frame and of course my love for all things animal print in this summers FATkini!

I purchased this FATkini all the way back in March from Monif C on pre-order and anxiously awaited its arrival the first week of May. When it finally arrived I was so excited I anxiously tried it on over my clothes in the middle of my kitchen. I fell instantly in love and new that this was a $148.00 well spent and that I would be wearing it every chance I got all summer long! So far I have rocked this suit at the lake, in friends hot tubs and finally today at our community pool which finally opened for the summer.  My FATkini has worked fantastically in all of these different occasions has earned me a TON of compliments and has proven to be an awesome suit both for looks and for functionality. This FATkini is also in my opinion very curve friendly and even flattering with the high waisted bottoms that take care of muffin top coverage and the wide halter straps on the top that perfectly cover that bit of armpit flab that is typically neglected. It is made from a great quality fabric and is nice and sturdy to keep the girls in place and even has bra style back closer for extra support. Honestly I love this suit!

For those women who are considering rocking a FATkini or hell even a swimsuit this summer I highly recommend Monif C Plus Sizes as the perfect designer for swimwear made with your curves in mind! Monif C is currently having a sale to help with the price a bit but there are only 2 DAY LEFT! Use the coupon code MEMORIAL at checkout and take 20% off your order through Thursday!

What do you think of my FATkini? Would you wear one? What are you waiting for go rock a suit that makes you feel good and enjoy some fun in the sun!

What I Wore: “You Can Have Whatever You Like”

Be Social!

Hey Curvy Chicks!

One trend I have always been interested in is androgyny. I personally am a huge fan of women who can appear ambiguous in gender and pulling it off from time to time myself has always been a fashion aspiration from me. When I decided to start rocking a full on pompadour I knew this would give me even more of an opportunity to embrace the andro trend but I wanted to do it in a truly classic way and I figured what better way then with a great tuxedo jacket.  I have been looking for the perfect plus size white tuxedo jacket for what seems like months now and I was so excited when I finally found the ideal match from Bespoke  I knew I had to get my paws on it, so I was thrilled when I received this jacket in my most recent review package from my friends at SimplyBe!

Earrings: Torrid (Gifted)/Bespoke White Tuxedo Jacket: SimplyBe (Gifted)/Sequin Tank Top: SWAK Designs (Gifted)/Pleather Leggings: Torrid/Hot Pink Sole Black Pumps: Shoe Dazzle

I feel in love with this Bespoke White Tuxedo Jacket on the site, then again when I saw it on the hanger, and once again but to the extreme when I finally tried it on! I recieved it in a size 20 and found it fit perfectly true to size based on my measurements. It buttons comfortably to enhance my curves by hugging the smallest part of my waist but also looks nice left open for a more casual look. The materials are high quality just like other items I have received from the Bespoke line before and you can tell this piece was made with consideration to quality and with curves in mind. The small details from the perfect collar width to the 3 button sleeve as well as the overall style of this pieces makes this piece perfect for any curvy girls wardrobe. For this look I wanted to wear it just like I would if I was going out and hitting the town while serving some serious fierce style. I paired the white tuxedo jacket with my black sequin tank I recieved a few seasons back from Sealed With A Kiss Designs and since the tank top has some extra length in the back to cover the hiney felt I could wear it with my black pleather leggings i’ve had for it seems like years from Torrid. I finished off the look with a pair of dangly earrings and a pair of black pumps from Shoe Dazzle. I felt like the earrings and shoes added some feminine quality to this look and I absolutely love that these pumps have hot pink soles that match my hair so well!

Loving this look and feeling SASSY!

What are you wearing today? Would you rock a white tuxedo jacket or another androgynous piece?

What I Wore: “Go Your Own Way”

Be Social!

Hey Curvy Chicks!

It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL out today and I am loving soaking up some vitamin D in the sunshine. I realized I haven’t posted an outfit in like a month and thats not cool so today even though I am certainly not the fliest version of myself I decided that I was going to capture what I am wearing while loving the weather and taking the first opportunity to go sleeveless this Spring.

Now some curvy girls and some skinny girls too hate their arms. While it may not be my favorite body part (you know I LOVE my booty) I don’t really have a problem with my thick chubby arms. I know their are some out there who think if it can swing in the wind you should cover it up but I say FUCK THAT! Pardon my French but its time to stop being polite and starting getting real (circa Real World 1992) on Stiletto Siren!

Anyhoo I wanted to rock a sleeveless dress and decided to take the opportunity to also try out the high low trend with this lovely animal print dress sent to me by my lovely friends at Simply Be! This dress is super comfortable and loose fitting but is a lovely light and airy fabric. This dress normally comes with a brown metallic belt (I have somehow misplaced mine in my mess of a closet) that is thicker then the one I chose to pair it with to cinch in the waist. I decied to just add a black skinny belt that could be for the most part hidden creating a separation between my chest and the rest of me. I felt comfortable and floaty in the best way possible and know that this is a dress I will easily be able to turn to as it heats up this summer.
